.

The organisations were brought together to raise legal awareness among Palestinians, give them a better understanding of their basic rights and what legal resources are available to them.

— We are pleased to see the joint effort by these organisations and will follow the outcome of the workshop with great interest. Respect for human rights is at the core of our mandate, the TIPH Head of Mission Einar Johnsen said in his opening speech on Tuesday 14 December 2010.

The workshop was arranged to celebrate the official human rights day and the fact that the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has opened a field office in Hebron.

— The idea behind the workshop is to bring organisations with a legal approach to human rights together to exchange information and to identify fields not covered by our respective activities, says Hamed Qawasmeh, Human Rights Officer at the Hebron field office for the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The TIPH supported the workshop and hosted a lunch for representatives of the participating organisations in the mission’s premises in northern Hebron.
