Hebron 01.05.2002: TIPH resumed patrolling in Hebron today, after having made two reconnaissance trips yesterday. Observers have been allowed freedom of movement in most areas, only stopped when there has been an ongoing operation by the IDF.

The IDF are finalizing their operation in the Palestinian H1 areas of Hebron. At least eight Palestinians died in the operation and four were seriously wounded within TIPH Area of Responsibility.

The city structures have not witnessed any large-scale damage as a result of artillery or heavy machine gun fire. The most obvious signs of the operation are belt tracks left in the asphalt by the Armored Personnel Carriers and Tanks. The patrols also noted that a few stop-signs and electricity structures had been torn down by passing armored vehicles.
