On 14 April, the TIPH Local Contact Group, LCG, held a meeting at the TIPH headquarters in Hebron.
The LCG, which is comprised of the contributing countries’ representatives from the embassies in Tel Aviv and the representative offices to the Palestinian Authority, met to discuss the current situation in the city and to plan for the upcoming Capitals’ Meeting, which will take place in Oslo, Norway, on 26 May 2016.
– We had a fruitful meeting today, and the contributing countries are committed to the mandate and reassured their continued support of TIPH and its important work in the city of Hebron, says TIPH Head of Mission, Einar Johnsen.
Over the past months, TIPH has observed a worsening of living conditions for the local Palestinian population, including the increase of movement restrictions for Palestinians, especially in H2, and during the meeting, TIPH HOM gave a comprehensive presentation of the current situation. The LCG expressed their concerns and reconfirmed their commitment to the mandate.
– In accordance with our mandate TIPH assists in monitoring and reporting on the efforts to maintain normal life in the city. With the support of our contributing countries we are working hard for the continued implementation of the mandate, and to provide a feeling of security for the Palestinians in Hebron.
