On 9 November 2015, TIPH Head of Mission Geir Holmenes visited the Governor of Hebron Governorate Mr. Kamil Humaid in his office. TIPH Head of Mission expressed his concerns about the situation in the city:
– For the past months, TIPH has observed a dramatic worsening of living conditions for the local Palestinian population, including the increase of movement restrictions for Palestinians, especially in H2, he said.
The Governor said that he fears that the situation will continue and expressed the need for cooperation with TIPH, particularly with regard to implementing projects relating to infrastructure, health and education. The governor also requested more presence from TIPH in the city and TIPH Head of Mission conveyed that in response to the escalation of violence in its area of responsibility, TIPH has increased its presence and activities in the city and strengthened its liaison work with both Parties. He further extended the full commitment of the contributing countries of TIPH to the mandate.
