TIPH funding summer camps for 1000 children in Hebron

More than 1000 children from the old city, Bab al-Zawiyee, Tariq ibn Ziyad, Jabal al-Jawhar, Abu Sneina and Haret Al-Sheikh will be able to enjoy TIPH-sponsored summer camps in Hebron in the coming months. Sport, culture and education will be the main focus of the activities. The summer camps are organized in cooperation with various organizations in Hebron and are free of charge for the children. Hebron 06.07.2006: More than 1000 children from the old city, Bab al-Zawiyee, Tariq ibn Ziyad, Jabal al-Jawhar, Abu Sneina and Haret Al-Sheikh will be able to enjoy TIPH-sponsored summer camps in Hebron in the coming months. Sport, culture and education will be the main focus of the activities. The summer camps are organized in cooperation with various organizations in Hebron and are free of charge for the children.

In cooperation with Hebron Directorate of Education, camps will be held in the three schools of Abdel Khaleq al-Yaghmour, Fahd Al-Qawasme and Al-Motanabbi.

The other TIPH sponsored camps are implemented Sharek Youth Club, Nadi Shabab Al-Khalil, Nadi Al Ahli, Palestinian Sports for All Federation (PSAF) and Federation Sportive et Gymnique du Travail(FSGT).

Mahmoud Abu Sbeh, the director of Sharek Youth Club in Hebron, explained that the summer camps will give the children an opportunity to express their feelings and learn new skills. ‘This will help reducing the negative feelings and emotional problems of the children’. 

Among the activities in the TIPH sponsored summer camp in Sharek Youth club is computer training courses, art activities, supplementary education programs, sport activities, cultural activities and trips. 

The summer camps are taking place during June, July and August.

The TIPH also supports other projects in Hebron. TIPH recently funded a youth Club in Tel Rumeida, window protection for Palestinians living in areas close to settlements, health care for mothers and children and 26th of Junwe this year TIPH contributed to the funding of the anti drug campaign Hebron.

TIPH will do what is possible to support the Palestinians

Head of Mission Arnstein Overkil has expressed that the TIPH Mission takes great pleasure in supporting several summer camps organized for the Palestinian children in Hebron.

– It is important for TIPH do what is possible – within its Mandate – to alleviate the lives of the citizens in the City of Hebron, in particular the children, he said.  – Not least at this particular point in time, where the Palestinians – all over the West Bank and Gaza – are experiencing much hardship.

TIPH is continuously monitoring the situation in the City of Hebronand keeps the six TIPH member countries informed of what is happening and of any new development.

TIPH is staffed of personnel from Turkey, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Italy and Denmark.
