For the fourth year in a row Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH) distributes free flour to a number of bakeries and pastry shops in the Old Souq of Hebron during Ramadan. The flour is used for bread and traditional Ramadan sweets, which then are sold for almost half price.

As a part of its mandate TIPH seeks to encourage economic growth in the city of Hebron by supporting income generating projects. During the month of Ramadan TIPH is distributing 31 tons of flour to bakeries and pastry shops in the Old Souq.

We hope this project will increase trade in the Old Souq by encouraging people from all parts of the city to go there during Ramadan and buy their Ramadan sweets at a reduced price, says Esma Al-Samarai, TIPH Deputy Head of Research, Analysis and Information Division.

The implementation of the project is carried out in cooperation with Hebron Rehabilitation Committee (HRC).
