TIPH commemorates the death of two observers in 2002

On 25 March 2017 TIPH members commemorated the death of two colleagues who were killed in the service of peace 15 years ago during the 2nd Intifadah.

TIPH Head of Mission, Einar Johnsen, accompanied by the Senior Representatives from the five contributing countries visited the location of the tragedy and shared a moment of commemoration and reflection.

IMG_0267Later a ceremony tooke place at the TIPH headquarters with attendance of both international and local staff.

-This is a tragic incident that will never be forgotten within TIPH. Today our thoughts are with the friends and families of our two killed colleagues, Catherine and Cengiz, Head of Mission Einar Johnsen said.

At the ceremony, a moment of silence was observed and wreaths were laid at the memorial site inside TIPH headquarters.

Catherine Berruex from Switzerland and Turgut Cengiz Toytunç from Turkey were shot and killed on Bypass Road 35 just outside Hebron on 26 March 2002.
