For the last couple of years, TIPH organised an Iftar for the population in Tel Rumeida. Together with local NGOs and volunteers, TIPH invited more than 350 people to enjoy the feast held at Yaser Omr School on 5 July, 2015.

The guests arrived a few minutes before sunset and the Deputy Head of Mission, Giacomo Mastrapasqua, wished everyone welcome and said he was pleased that so many wanted to share the Iftar with TIPH.

– As TIPH Deputy Head of Mission, I am particularly grateful to the Ministry of Education for lending us the school, and to the volunteers, led by Mr. Ibrahim Abu Eisha, for their understanding and willingness to invest their time in creating a good neighbourhood, which is vital for a vibrant and sustainable society in Hebron, he continued.

After greeting the Ramadan – Ramadan Kareem – everyone was seated and enjoyed the meal together with the TIPH members and many volunteers.

– The Tel Rumeida Iftar is an excellent opportunity for us in TIPH to meet with and show support of the people living in the Tel Rumeida area but also to recognise the significance of Ramadan in the community, said TIPH Community Relations Officer Alan Suleiman.

The Tel Rumeida area is a particularly tense area of Hebron and the living conditions are tough for the population.

– The Iftar is a way for TIPH to be present in the area and to monitor and report on the efforts to maintain normal life in the City of Hebron in accordance with the mandate of TIPH, says TIPH Head of Mission Geir Holmenes.
