On Saturday 30 August, 2013, TIPH representatives along with the Hebron Mayor, Mr. Daoud Al-Zatari, the Head of the Tareq Bin Ziyad Sports Club, Mr Adnan Rajabi as well as representatives from the local society participated in the opening ceremony of a new sports ground, funded by TIPH, in the Tareq Bin Ziyad Community Centre (TBZ) in H2.

The TBZ Community Centre that previously had a wrestling hall, swimming pool and other sport facilities now also has an outdoor Sports Arena. TIPH partly funded the Centre in 2011 and it has since then been run jointly by the TIPH, the Hebron Municipality and the TBZ Sports Club.

 – The Tareq Ben Ziyad area is densely populated and underdeveloped but at the same time it is accessible for people in the entire H2. TIPH has the mandate to work on enhancing the well being of Palestinians in Hebron, we are doing this through various developing projects, says Mrs. Christine Fossen.

– This Sports Arena will give the citizens of H2 something to be proud about, and provide young boys and girls here with a useful meeting point for activities, she added saying.

Hebron Municipality is putting the youth sector in the city, especially in the H2 area, on its priority. It supports and develops the existing sports facilities and constructs new ones.

– The strong cooperation between the Municipality and the TIPH has been ongoing through many projects over the past years. We thank TIPH for this groundbreaking ceremony that will help us develop our infrastructure and give young boys and girls the possibility to practice sports in this vulnerable area, says Mr. Daoud al-Zatari.
