Swiss Secretary of State visits TIPH

The Swiss Secretary of State Michael Ambuehl, together with two Swiss ambassadors and the Head of the Swiss representative office in Ramallah, visited TIPH in Hebron on the 14th of November 2006. During a visit to the old town of Hebron the Secretary of State was briefed on the current situation by the Swiss members of TIPH. (Hebron 14.11.2006)

Hebron 14.11.2006: The Swiss Secretary of State Michael Ambuehl, together with two Swiss ambassadors and the Head of the Swiss representative office in Ramallah, visited TIPH in Hebron on the 14th of November 2006. They met the head of TIPH Arne Huuse for an introduction to the work TIPH performs in Hebron. The Secretary of State also took part in a commemoration of the two TIPH members killed in 2002. A minute of silence was observed by the memorial at the TIPH head quarters.

During a visit to the old town of Hebron the Secretary of State was briefed on the current situation by the Swiss members of TIPH. Currently four Swiss nationals contribute to the work of TIPH.

The delegation visited the Old Souq, Al-Shallalah street and passed through the Israeli checkpoint CP56. After briefings at the Qurtuba School the Secretary of State paid a short visit to the Ibrahimi Mosque.

The Secretary of State left Hebron with what he described as lasting impressions and told his Swiss colleagues that he was convinced of the importance of TIPH’s work in the city as well as the Swiss participation in the mission.
