Hebron 07.02.2006: The TIPH would like to state its appreciation to the people of Hebron for supporting and protecting the TIPH during these difficult times.

First, we would like to thank all the groups and individuals in Hebron who have shown great wisdom and tact by validating and underlining the distance between the TIPH and the newspapers that published pictures of the Prophet Mohammed. Moreover, the TIPH has published a statement in all the local media strongly disapproving and condemning the actions of these European newspapers. Today, a letter of complaint from the TIPH was also sent from the Head of Mission to some Norwegian media outlets.

During the last week the TIPH has welcomed three well organised demonstrations and received three letters of complaint that the organisation has forwarded to our respective countries. Our communication with the demonstrators has been all over excellent.

Second, the TIPH would like to clarify that we have never been hit by firebombs as was stated in one newspaper yesterday. There has only been one minor violent episode perpetrated by youngsters who after one demonstration threw stones at our headquarters. The leaders of the demonstration, however, apologised to the TIPH immediately after the incident.

The TIPH is pleased to see that the strength of our relationship with the Hebronites has proven to be well worth. We have every confidence in the leaders of Hebron and believe that the TIPH very soon will be able to return to normal operational activity.
