Six years since two TIPH observers were shot dead in Hebron

On March 26, 2008 TIPH commemorates the tragic deaths of two of its members. Six years ago, Catherine Berruex from Switzerland and Turgut Cengiz Toytunç from Turkey were shot and killed on Road 35 just outside Hebron. Hüseyin Ozarslan from Turkey was injured. (Hebron 25.03.2008)

Six years ago, Catherine Berruex from Switzerland and Turgut Cengiz Toytunç from Turkey were shot and killed on Bypass Road 35 just outside Hebron. Hüseyin Ozarslan from Turkey was injured.

A ceremony will be held at the TIPH headquarters in Hebron on Wednesday 26th of March 2008 in memory of our colleagues who died in the service of peace. Representatives from the TIPH member countries, Palestinian authorities and current TIPH staff will attend the ceremony.

 

TIPH and the six participating countries (Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Turkey, Italy and Switzerland) extend their thoughts to the families and friends of the victims.

TIPH is a civilian observer mission in the West Bank city of Hebron. TIPH was called for during the Oslo peace talks by the Palestinian authority and the Israeli government to assist them in their efforts to restore normalcy to the city of Hebron.
