Palestinian Child day Celebration in Hebron

On April 9, 2013, TIPH Deputy Head of Mission, Sante De Pasquele and other TIPH members participated in The International Palestinian Day against Child labour, that was held in Hebron in the Tareq Ibn Ziyad Community Centre. The opening speech by Dr Raghad A. Dwaik, the City Councillor from the Municipality was followed by a speech from De Pasquele.

On April 9, 2013, TIPH Deputy Head of Mission Sante De Pasquele and other TIPH members participated in The International Palestinian Day against Child labour, was held in Hebron in the Tareq Ibn Ziyad Community Centre. The opening speech by Dr Raghad A. Dwaik, the City Councillor from the Municipality was followed by a speech from De Pasquele.

– TIPH is delighted to celebrate this day together with all the local representatives and the children of the city in Hebron. It is important to protect children from labour and to allow children access to education and other rights of the child. Through TIPH implementation of small and medium scale Community projects, it insists on improving the welfare and the development of the children and the local community in the City Hebron as they are the hope of the future, says Sante De Pasquele.

The representative of the Defence for children International Network stressed that around 100,000 children in Palestine are currently working and 88% of them are performing work that is dangerous to their health. Other speeches were performed by Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Education and the International Human Right Association.

Several NGO’s, 100 children and another 100 parents and teachers from H2 and the Old City participated in the celebration. The children were entertained by The Scouts and received face paintings, refreshments and small presents that were gifted by TIPH.
