Norwegian Minister in Hebron

The Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jonas Gahr Støre, visited the Temporary International Presence in Hebron on 27 June 2008. He was briefed by the observers and was given an extended tour of the down town area of the city.

It was the minister’s first visit to Hebron and he was accompanied by several senior advisors and both the Norwegian ambassador to Israel and the Norwegian representative to the Palestinian Authority were following the visit.

– To visit Hebron is to visit the core of the conflict in the area, the Minister said in a comment to Norwegian and international journalists while walking on Al Shuhada Street in Hebron.

The visit to Hebron and TIPH was a part of the minister’s visit to the Middle East.
