Legal awareness workshop at Hebron University

On Saturday 18th of August TIPH is continuing the campaign in Hebron to raise awareness among the Palestinians regarding legal rights under occupation by hosting a legal awareness workshop at the Hebron University. (Hebron 17.08.2007)

TIPH observer and Palestinian man in the Souk.On Saturday 18th of August TIPH is continuing the campaign in Hebron to raise awareness among the Palestinians regarding legal rights under occupation by hosting a legal awareness workshop at the Hebron University.

The public is invited to take part in the workshop, starting at 3 pm, where lawyers from Hebron and TIPH take part in a panel.

TIPH will provide the H2 residents free buses to the Hebron, University, from Tareq Ibn Ziad School, Ali Bekka Mosque and Hebron Rehabilitation committee, starting at 1.40 pm.

The lawyers will answer questions and give practical guidelines concerning issues of compensation, violence and misconduct by IDF and police and also address issues of concern regarding filing complaints to the police.

The panel will consist of three lawyers: Mr Tawfeeq Jahshan the legal advisor of the Hebron Rehabilitation Committee, a known lawyer who has taken many cases to court in Israel from Hebron. Mr Fahmi Shaheen, a known human rights activist from Hebron, will also be on the panel. Mr Alexander Hug, the legal advisor of TIPH and an expert in International Law, will chair the panel.

In parallel TIPH will set up two offices where people can meet observers and raise specific individual questions with TIPH concerning violations in the city.
