The Temporary International Presence in Hebron was established in part to monitor the Israeli redeployment in Hebron. TIPH strongly urges the Parties to respect, and to ensure respect of, their signed agreements.
The TIPH has confined its personnel to bases, and maintains an open line of communication with the IDF and the Palestinian Authority. As a civilian unarmed monitoring mission, the TIPH cannot fulfill its mandate in areas of armed fighting. The TIPH will remain in Hebron and is ready to resume patrolling as soon as the situation permits it.
