Environmental awareness was in focus at the Environmental Club project, initiated by the Partner for Sustainable Development Organisation, and funded by the TIPH Community Relations.

Thirty pupils from schools located both in H1 and H2 in Hebron, took part in the environmental project, which consisted of several components, such as a workshop where the children learned about local and global environmental challenges.

Moreover, the project helped to develop the pupils communication and leadership skills on environmental issues.

As part of the project, the participants were also introduced to practical environmental responsibilities, with the purpose of improving their own surroundings. The participants cleaned and painted six different school yards in H1 and H2.

One of the school directors has already noted that the pupils are more alerted when it comes to their direct environment and that they have started to clean up the play ground in the schools by picking up litter.

The project finished in May 2010.
