Legal Rights in Hebron

All Palestinians living in the Occupied Territories have legal rights. The Israeli police, army and border police must follow the law. Not only international law but also Israeli law protects ALL residents in the territories.

If you suffer injustice, you have the right to complain to the police, right to compensation for damaged property, right to complain if you are treated badly.

There are mechanisms and rules that the Occupying force has to adhere to. If you don’t report it, your rights might not be recognized.

Even if you think that the system is not functioning well, it is important to stand up for the rights you have. Don’t accept if somebody is breaking the law.

If you have been harassed, attacked or had your rights violated by settlers or Israeli forces – also report it to TIPH, the Temporary International Presence in Hebron.

TIPH is a neutral observation mission that keeps the record straight about what is happening in Hebron.

It is their duty to write a report about what happened and to  confront the Israelis with facts. If you report to TIPH it could make a difference for others in the future.
