Temporary International Presence in the City of Hebron TIPH

 

TIPH is an international civilian observer mission. TIPH assists the parties in the normalisation of the situation in the city and reports on their efforts and the breaches of the agreements on Hebron and international law. TIPH reports to the Palestinian and Israeli authorities and to the six member countries.

 
 

TIPH Supports Cleaning Campaign

Equipped with gloves and black garbage bags 220 schoolchildren, (12-14 years), from six schools in the Old Souq and Tareq Ben Ziad area participate in a cleaning competition. The children will clean in and around their schools and the surrounding areas. The winning class will be awarded with a trip to Akko.
 

Winter Camp for Children

About 60 children, between the age of 8 and 13, have participated in the TIPH supported Winter Camp at al Mahawer Charitable Society.

Clowns entertaining Children

Family House – the café which is run by the Hebron Women Charitable Society – was filled with preschool children from a nearby kindergarten, when two clowns visited.

More than one hundred children attended a Fun day at the Tel Rumeida Association, arranged by TIPH and its partner organisations. Clowns from Isaad Al-Tufule entertained both children and parents.

A day just for fun was the message when TIPH and several of its partners invited all the children in the Old City to participate in a Fun Day at the parking lot of Hebron Rehabilitation Committee.
 

Subsidised Flour During Ramadan

Several tons of free flour are being distributed to bakeries and Qatayef sellers in the Old City of Hebron. —The purpose is to attract Hebronites to the Old City Center by selling bread and sweets at half price during the month of Ramadan, says TIPH Project Manager Omar Al-Samarai

On 25 June, TIPH, in cooperation with Hebron-France Association and Hebron Rehabilitation Committee, arranged a cultural evening in the Old City.
 

TIPH Head of Mission visits Russian Monastery in Hebron

On Wednesday, the TIPH Head of Mission, Einar Johnsen, visited the Monastery of the Holy Patriarchs in Hebron, the only Christian site in the TIPH area of responsibility. The Head of Mission met with Hieromonk Aleksiy, who heads this Russian Orthodox Monastery. Father Aleksiy showed Mr. Johnsen the Monastery, and informed about its history and the Russian Church’s activities in Palestine throughout the ages.
 

TIPH Opens its Gates for Neighbourhood Day

On Thursday, TIPH made an effort to return some of the hospitality shown by the Hebronites, and opened the gates of the TIPH base for a neighbourhood day. Several hundreds of guests arrived, and were treated with theatre, games and a lot of children’s activities.
 

20 Hebronites trained to be full-fledged sales women

By learning the basics in marketing and sales a group of 20 women from Hebron started their vocational training to become full-fledged sales women.
 

Communication and leadership training for Hebron students

Through discussions, group exercises and practical workshops a group of 20 university students from the Polytechnic University in Hebron are trained in community based youth development.
 

TIPH supports the first children Marathon in Hebron

On 16 December 2010, the TIPH supported the first children ‘Marathon’ in Hebron together with the Al Nukhba Model School. More than 300 children ran a two km long ‘Marathon’, starting at Abu Mazen Restaurant and ending at Al Nukhba Model School.

TIPH distributes free flour to bakeries during Ramadan

For the fourth year in a row Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH) distributes free flour to a number of bakeries and pastry shops in the Old Souq of Hebron during Ramadan. The flour is used for bread and traditional Ramadan sweets, which then are sold for almost half price.
