gh discussions, group exercises and practical workshops a group of 20 university students from the Polytechnic University in Hebron are trained in community based youth development.

The training is carried out in three phases in a partnership between the Directorate of Education, the Polytechnic University, the TIPH and Partners for Sustainable Development (PSD). The PSD is responsible of the implementation of the project.

The purpose of the project is to strengthen the youth’s communication and leadership skills as well as their self-confidence and ability to involve themselves in their local communities.

— It is important to raise the youth’s self-confidence and their level of engagement in their communities. Youth are crucial in developing the future of any society, and working for the benefit of their own local communities is useful training for any youth who wants to become a future leader, says TIPH Community Relations Officer Kamil Azhar.

During the first phase, the university students were given training in communication and leadership skills and how to develop youth initiatives for the benefit of their local communities. In the second stage, starting at the end of January, the university students will train secondary school students in the principles of community-based development and how the youth initiatives function. During the last stage, the trained youth will together plan and implement four youth initiatives in the city of Hebron.
