Temporary International Presence in the City of Hebron TIPH

 

TIPH is an international civilian observer mission. TIPH assists the parties in the normalisation of the situation in the city and reports on their efforts and the breaches of the agreements on Hebron and international law. TIPH reports to the Palestinian and Israeli authorities and to the six member countries.

 
 

New Observers Introduced to Hebron

Every three months about a quarter of the TIPH observers are being exchanged. The staff returning home have served in TIPH for a period between 6 and 18 months. After having participated in an introduction course and having toured the city, 13 new observers are now ready to start their jobs.
 

TIPH Supports Cleaning Campaign

Equipped with gloves and black garbage bags 220 schoolchildren, (12-14 years), from six schools in the Old Souq and Tareq Ben Ziad area participate in a cleaning competition. The children will clean in and around their schools and the surrounding areas. The winning class will be awarded with a trip to Akko.
 

Ten Years Since the Killing of Two TIPH Observers

26 March marks the 10th anniversary of the killing of two TIPH observers — Catherine Berruex from Switzerland and Deputy Head of Operations Turgut Cengiz Toytunç from Turkey. Hüseyin Ozarslan from Turkey was wounded. To honour the memory of the fallen colleagues, the TIPH performed a ceremony, lead by TIPH Deputy Head of Mission, Michele De Pasqua.
 

German Politician in Hebron

Sigmar Gabriel, leader of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), visited TIPH and Hebron on 14 March.
 

EU Ambassadors Visit Hebron

The Political- and Security Committee (PSC) of the EU visited Hebron as part of a three day visit to the region hosted by the Office of the European Union Representative in Jerusalem where they met, among others, representatives from the Israeli- and the Palestinian Authorities.
